Z3ta+ Superwave Tutorial

In this tutorial i'll show you how to do a basic trance "superwave" sound - used in like, every track ever :)

First off load up z3ta and initialise a preset by going down the bottom right to the master section and choosing - "program" - "initialise" and make sure you set the render setting to "high" so we can hear as much detail out of our supersaw as possible...

set the first 2 osc's to vintage saw 4 and the third to multisaw (it isnt really all that important that you do this exactly - any saw waves will do for a supersaw, really. All you have to do is detune the shit out of them. )

set them all to mode = multi, free and transpose the multisaw up an octave

multisaw

in multi mode the phase slider becomes the detune control so you should experiment a bit detuning them against one another until you find something you want to stick with

after youve done that send them all to filter 1 by moving the bus slider on each osc to the top (top = filter 1, bottom = filter 2, and the middle sends an equal mix to each filter)

in the filter section turn on filter 1 and set it to a 24 dB lowpass - fully open and no resonance

open filter

in the mod matrix turn slot 1 to LFO 1 give it a small range of 1 or 2 bars and send it to the filter cutoff

mod matrix

now go to the LFO section and turn on LFO 1 - make it a sine wave and set sync mode to 8 (the larger the number the longer the LFO time, although this is affected by other factors)

LFO section

now move the amp envelope slider all the way up, give it a full sustain and a short attack time

and youre done!

now you can go to the effects panel in z3ta and add delay, reverb, chorusing, heaps of stuff

superwaves always sound good to me with a bit of phasing, and some reverb and delay

but as always have a play around and see what you come up with
